Wage Subsidies (Federal Gov.)
Employers who use the JobActive service may be eligible for wage subsidies when employing eligible persons who are mature aged, young, long-term unemployed or Indigenous.
WorkCover QLD Premium Discount
WorkCover Queensland has offered employers a discount on their premium (QLD based trainees and employees).
Payroll Tax Exemption
Employers may be eligible for a payroll tax exemption for the wages paid to their apprentices and trainees.
Who's Involved
With so many stakeholders involved in the process, it’s important to understand each party’s role and how they contribute to the completion of your traineeship. From your employer to government organisations, here’s what you need to know about each stakeholder and the part they play in making sure your apprenticeship or traineeship is a success.
Student
As a student, the trainee/apprentice will actively participate in achieving the desired outcomes outlined in the training plan.
Employer
Your employer is key to giving you the best possible learning experience. They provide on-the-job training, and support you throughout your apprenticeship or traineeship by setting objectives and providing guidance. Your employer is also responsible for making sure you're paid correctly and that all relevant paperwork is completed.
AASN
The Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) is your go-to for getting your training contract registered and finalised. They'll also be there to provide extra support during the duration of your program - so don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything!
RTO
The RTO is here to provide you with everything you need to make sure that your experience and outcomes are up to the expectations outlined in your program. They're committed to giving you the best possible support and service, as well as meeting legislative requirements set forth by the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
8 Golden Steps to Completing an Australian Apprenticeship or Traineeship
1. The Process Begins
Get the ball rolling and begin your apprenticeship or traineeship with your employer.
2. Signing your Training Contract
It's time to put pen to paper and sign the Training Contract supplied by your AASN with your employer.
3. Registration
Your AASN will register your details with the State Training Authority (STA). You will receive a letter from STA confirming that your Apprenticeship or Traineeship is registered.
4. Enrolment with Gold Training
You and your employer must enrol you with the chosen Registered Training Organisation (RTO) bring Gold Training
5. Payment of Co-Contribution Fees
Please note that you may need to pay a Student Co-Contribution Fee to Gold Training.
6. Training Plan Development
Gold Training will develop the training plan and schedule of training in consultation with you and your employer, then training can begin!
7. Confirmation of Training
After beginning your training, you may need to sign a claim form for your employer to confirm that you are undertaking the training
8. Maintaining a Positive Relationship
Your AASN and Gold Training will keep in touch throughout the duration of your training journey to ensure everything is going smoothly and according to plan!
